The Advanced Snorkeling Course involves snorkeling while making breath-hold dives to observe aquatic life, up close and personal. It’s a great way to explore the underwater world when you’re not able to scuba dive or if scuba diving just isn’t your thing. The PADI Skin Diver course teaches you how to enjoy watching life below the surface and comfortably venture underwater for short visits, whether you dive in a local freshwater lake or the big blue ocean, at home or on holiday at a dive destination.
Who should take an Advanced Snorkeling course?
This is a beginner friendly experience! If you’ve always wanted to take your first steps to exploring the underwater world, this is where to start! Explore shallow waters from the surface and diving below to a maximum depth of 5 meters. Learn breath hold techniques that allow you to explore underwater and observe aquatic life up and close. This course is designed for the cooler waters of British Columbia. Explore Howe Sound and rocky shores around Vancouver.
Your Learning Journey
The PADI Advanced Snorkeling course teaches you about:
- How to choose, adjust and use skin diving equipment.
- Basic safety guidelines for being in and around the water.
- Snorkeling and skin diving techniques including checking buoyancy, surface swimming, clearing water from your snorkel and performing effortless surface dives.
To get the most out of your course, it is recommended that you bring or purchase your own mask and snorkel.
1. Knowledge Development
- Learn the basic principles of Advanced Snorkeling and breath-hold dives.
- Learn about our local environment and best practices in our waters.
2. Confined Water Skills
- Learn and practice all of the essential advanced snorkeling skills.
- Get comfortable with your equipment and build up your confidence in the water.
3. Snorkeling Boat Adventure
- Set out on a boat into Howe Sound to explore the local wildlife.
- Use the skills you’ve learned to safely snorkel around islets and bays.
Whats Included with Your Snorkeling Course:
- Advanced Snorkeling knowledge development presentation
- Confined Water Session to develop required skills
- ALL RENTAL EQUIPMENT IS INCLUDED – This includes wetsuit, fins, basic mask + snorkel, weight belt (if needed).
- PADI Advanced Snorkeler Certification & Fees.
- 3 hour boat charter in Howe Sound
- Snacks and hot drinks between sessions.
Learning Options
Pool Snorkeling Course- $145
Learn the required skills in a confined pool setting. This option is great if you want to continue your snorkeling journey in warmer waters
Receive a classroom and knowledge development session before spending 1 hour in the pool practicing the required skills.
Shore Snorkeling Course – $175
Learn about snorkeling from shore in Howe Sound and around Vancouver.
Receive a knowledge development session at the shore snorkeling site. Then spend 2-3 hours practicing the required skills in shallow water before heading out to deeper waters for exploration.. This helps build confidence and prepares you for entering the ocean even during the winter months (when visibility is at its best).
Boat Snorkeling Course – $225
This is the most budget friendly option. Join other new snorkelers for a knowledge development session before heading to a sheltered bay to practice the required skills for certification. Then depart on a 3 hour boat adventure to explore islets, bays and observe local wildlife.
Enrollment Requirements:
- Must be at least 8 years old
- You need adequate swimming skills and need to be in good physical health.
